The Cleveland Indians did what they had to do. The team avoided going to arbitration with arguably their top starting pitcher, Justin Masterson, reaching an agreement this afternoon.Masterson, 28, agreed to a one-year, $9.8 million deal for the upcoming season. The deal falls at about the midpoint of where Masterson and the Tribe filed last month.
Masterson, his agent, and members of the Indians' organization were set to attend Masterson's arbitration hearing Thursday in Florida.
After reaching an agreement with Masterson, the Indians are now done with arbitration eligible players. They won decisions over Vinnie Pestano and Josh Tomlin earlier this offseason.
Now we can all focus on some baseball, which I'm really looking forward to.
